It was a surprise that was not on my to do list. It was surreal, the type of stuff you’d expect from a surrealist movie. People were walking seemingly on water. Then you realize as your adjust to the blinding white light, that there is no or very very little water . It was all salt. We walked, somewhat disoriented, completely humbled by the site. In the dry season, all white till the horizon where the sky stars. Amazing view with the clouds, blue and white. The crystallised look under your feet, to feel its hardness and in some parts softness, amazing! It is an enormous salt pan for a good part of the year and as such, a place where salt has been traditionally harvested for centuries. In winter the lake is under snow, ice and water. Luckily, the water had receded far enough back for us to enjoy a walk out onto the salt pan. Reflections and colour were fabulous and worth experiencing. Personally, I enjoyed this stop for a leg stretch and a unique experience and would recommend it to others for the same reason.
It was a lot of fun and a great tour. It was very exciting to watch the sunset in such a beautiful landscape.We would definitely recommend it to couples who want to spend a romantic time.
